Town Property Improvements
During their first 2 years at the Town Of Rush White Springs Farm, A Horse’s Friend improved 3 large buildings at no cost to taxpayers.
Volunteers and AHF staff cleaned the buildings, painted and did repairs.
A Horse’s Friend bought all paint and other building materials for these improvements.

$125,000 Grant
In 2023, the Rochester Area Community Foundation awarded a $125,000 grant to the Town of Rush and A Horse’s Friend to begin restoration of the horse barn at town-owned property at White Springs Farm. The horse barn is currently condemned. This grant would be used to pay for major repairs to the horse barn, such as replacing the roof and structural repairs. After that A Horse’s Friend could work on making the barn usable again. Currently, AHF Program participants ride horses outside year round, because the indoor riding arena has horse stalls in it. Once the horse barn is usable again, the horses will be moved there so that kids can ride in the indoor arena during bad weather.Grant On Hold
Pending Results of the Proposition 2 vote on the November 5th Ballot
For the Town of Rush to receive the grant, A Horse’s Friend needs a longer lease.
If Proposition 2 passes, the Lease for A Horse’s Friend will be extended until 2035.
If A Horse’s Friend does not receive a longer lease, the $125,000 will be withdrawn, and the horse barn will continue to deteriorate, risking costly repairs or demolition at taxpayers’ expense.
